Bicycle frame pumps or mini pumps mount to your bike or may be stored in your frame bag. They are needed for emergency inflation or inflation on the fly, but hold a small amount of air volume compared to floor pumps, and require more strokes to inflate your tire. For this reason they are not as desirable for everyday use and inflation of your tires. Often they are categorized into high volume (for inflating larger tires such as mountain bike tires), or high pressure (for inflating high pressure road tires). It is important to know how much pressure, or psi, your tire needs before purchasing a frame pump. Compact size, light weight, mounting hardware, and the ability to connect to multiple valve types are features to look for in a frame pump. Some pumps are hybrid and also offer the ability to use a CO2 cartridge for quick inflation.
