Weight is a large factor when selecting a road pedal. Moving or inertial weight is the weight you want to reduce the most and pedals fall into this category. Pedals are made of alloy, composite (plastic), or carbon, come in different spindle lengths or widths (often referred to as Q factor), and vary in terms of bearing quality and type. Some pedals are serviceable making their life spans almost indefinite.
