Coach Tracy Russ

sportfactoryheadshots20006-th-1.jpgCoach Tracy Russ is a highly experienced and diverse coach that has developed top athletes to the professional level.  As the head swim instructor for The Sport Factory she has helped many beginner triathletes realize their goals of completing their first triathlon, as well as assisting experienced swimmers in refining their stroke.  She has achieve USA Triathlon licensing and USA Triathlon certified youth/junior coach. She is also NASM Certified for Speed/Agility coaching and has helped top junior tennis players refine their game through improved speed and agility.

Tracy Russ has been involved in the sport of swimming for over 20 years! She swam competitively for Swim Atlanta growing up, which gave her the background to become a high achieving, full scholarship athlete at the University of Kentucky. At Kentucky, she was an SEC top-16 finisher and National Qualifier in the freestyle event.  Tracy qualfied for the United States Olympic trials.

After college, she took some time to start a family. She is the mother to three children, Sully, Ansley, and Cullin. After being away from competition, she got the bug to get back into sport, so she Sport Factory coach Tracy Palmertried a triathlon- and the rest is history. In triathlon, Tracy is a two time Southeastern Champion, World Championship Qualifier, and one of the top elite amateurs in the country. When racing, Tracy is consistently the fastest female swimmer, even beating the pros out of the water.

Coach Tracy has over 18 years of coaching experience with beginner athletes all the way up to the elite level. She is analytical, precise, encouraging, motivating, and enjoys working with athletes of all levels and abilities. Tracy's athletes consistently set PR's and achieve their goals. As a swim coach, Tracy personally coached several athletes to NCAA scholarships, Southeastern Championships and records.  She successfully coached summer league teams around the southeast for 15 years. Tracy's expertise in swimming has helped many triathletes improve efficiency in the water, and gain the open water skill and confidence needed on race day.

In addition to working with adults, Coach Tracy has been working with youth and juniors for 18 years. She has a very proven and successful approach with youth athletes and their parents.  She not only teaches the proper foundational skills to further their developmental pathways, but has a positive affect that motivates and mentors, making each sessson fun. Her approach is very deliberate and progressive, with a long term focus and deep understanding of age appropriate physiological development.  She has worked with top ranked youth tennis and lacross players as well as other ball sports.
